A word of thanks to our employees
Good evening,

One thing is clear - technology is woven into the very fabric of everything we do, as we all learned last week. I have to say, to see the monumental, citywide effort, aimed at solving the communications-network issues was impressive.

Adversity can bring out the best or the worst in people and organizations. Last week we saw some serious adversity. This event clearly brought out the best in our people and our organization. It was humbling to see so many of our staff willing to help out and problem solve together, and work to prioritize issues collaboratively with a true spirit of selflessness.

I especially appreciate the leadership from IT, many of them working 30+ hours to fix the problem as quickly as possible. The teamwork and perseverance were amazing. However, I saw many people, not just those in IT step and help employees and managers in dispatch, finance, and public safety just to name a few.

There was no shortage of determination and resilience. This incident presented many challenges from a variety of angles; it’s important to note the tremendous teamwork and partnership that took place. Once we realized the severity of the incident, an action plan was put in place and followed.

As a City, we recognize the importance of pro-active maintenance and business continuity. Preparing for events such as this is extremely valuable to the City, as it has allowed us to work more efficiently together. As debrief sessions and lessons learned events are being scheduled, I am confident that the City will be stronger and more resilient from this point forward.

Again, I find myself in a place that I feel privileged to be your City Manager and humbled by the professionalism and expertise in the City of Roseville. Excellent work!
