Charity softball game embraces the community

This past weekend, softball players gathered together for 4th annual co-ed charity softball tournament. The competition was held at Maidu Regional Park; the real winners of the activity were several area charities.

Eight teams of city employees battled to be the winning team. In the end, the Roseville Fire Department’s “STOP, DROP & PLAY BALL” team held that title.

The tourney had 8 teams with almost 100 players in total. We raised $1,940 for charity. Approximately 200 people total in attended, including the players and their guests. The free BBQ hot dog and brat lunch was sponsored by the Roseville Grocery Outlet.

Each team played to raise funds for a local charity. Each charity received $200, and the winning charity received over $500.

Here is a list of the charities the teams played for:

  • Shriners Hospital for Children, Northern California
  • Roseville VFW Post #1487
  • Wellness Within
  • Rio Linda Little League
  • Ronald McDonald House
  • Operation Swim
  • Crestmont Elementary Parent Teacher Club
  • Roseville Fire Museum (winning charity)
