Utility Exploration Center for the win

Utility Exploration Center for the win

To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Sacramento Area Museums held a competition for area museums to produce promotional videos. The goal is to engage thousands of potential visitors on social media. Several local museums created action-packed content; the videos were judged by the internet community.

The Utility Exploration Center’s fun, upbeat video won handily, besting the likes of the California State Railroad Museum, the Sacramento Children’s Museum, and the Crocker Art Museum.

In the spirit of the competition, the UEC presents our award for best cinematography to Ely Wilbur from Public Affairs and Communications, for his dexterity in filming an award-winning Museum in a Minute video while gliding seamlessly through the Utility Exploration Center (UEC) in one take.

While Ely’s steady eye and attention-to-detail contributed to the video’s popularity, no doubt the City staff and their families who participated in showcasing the imagination, exploration, and discovery of the UEC added to the win as well.

What did the UEC’s victory yield? A trophy? A trip to Cannes? Nope. Just bragging rights at the next Sacramento Area Museum meeting… and a cool video to show what we do at the Utility Exploration Center. Totally worth it!
