New email feature identifies external senders

New email feature identifies external senders
Starting today, a new feature in your City email will help identify contact from external sources easier to recognize.

A disclaimer will be automatically added at the top of all incoming emails from external senders. The disclaimer will read, “EXTERNAL: This email originated from outside of the organization. Do not click on any links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and know the content is safe.” Please see the yellow banner in the image below for an example of the disclaimer on an email.

Emails sent internally will not contain this disclaimer. Be wary of any emails that appear to have come from a roseville.ca.us address, but have the external disclaimer attached.

The addition of this disclaimer is part of our ongoing cybersecurity initiative. The effort is designed to combat fraudulent and unsafe emails, and reduce the risk of privacy and confidentiality breeches.
