Public Works wins awards for recent projects

The employees who completed several public works projects were recently recognized by the Sacramento Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA). Each project presented a different set of challenges and required innovative solutions.

The awards recognize the management and administration of each project, the alliance built between team members, and the end product.

Three City projects were recognized with “Project of the Year” recognitions. These include:

  • Downtown Bridges & Trail Project – Parks and Trails Project of the Year
  • Woodcreek Oaks Boulevard Widening Project – Transportation Roadway Project of the Year
  • Roller Compacted Concrete Project – New Technology Project of the Year

Each project required diverse teams, extensive planning, engineering, outreach, funding, and construction to complete their objectives. Not all of the employees were able to attend the ceremony.
