The City of Roseville has contracted with a private security company named First Security Services to mitigate nuisance offenses and quality of life issues in our downtown. They will begin training with the Police Department on Monday, September 16 and be available for service on Tuesday September 17.
First Security Services staff will be introducing themselves to business owners and other stake holders as they begin this project.
First Security Services will begin patrolling the downtown Roseville business district, Historic Old Town, and City buildings/parking garages. One armed uniformed security guard will be on duty from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week patrolling in a marked vehicle and on foot.
First Security Services will supplement special events and handle the following types of calls for service:
• loitering/trespassing
• parking garage complaints
• suspicious people not related to a crime in progress.
Starting in October, First Security Services will also begin assisting with additional security measures at City Council meetings.
Remember, this is not a replacement for Roseville PD, just a highly visible and consistent supplement to enhance the safety of our downtown areas, City facilities, and Downtown Roseville Partnership member properties.
Designated Patrol Area:
The designated patrol area for First Security Services will include the following City buildings and properties:
• Civic Center/Vernon Street Town Square, 311 Vernon St.
• City Hall Annex, 316 Vernon St.
• Main Library, 225 Taylor St.
• Oak Street Parking Garage, 200 Oak St.
• Vernon Street Parking Garage, 424 Oak St.
• Train Station Building and Parking Lot, 201 Pacific St.
When to call First Security Services vs Roseville Police Department:
• Roseville Police Department will continue to handle calls in the service area for crimes in progress, disturbances, and anything involving a weapon or violence.
• Roseville Police Dispatch Non-Emergency line is 916-774-5000 or Emergency line is 911 or 916-786-6444.
• Roseville PD will never redirect your call to First Security Services. The PD will maintain real-time contact with the First Security Services 24/7 dispatch center.
• If you are ever in doubt, just call Roseville PD.
