Employees recently gathered to compete on the softball diamond, share a lot of laughter, and dig in on some fabulous food on the grill. This was the site of the 5th Annual All-City Co-Ed Charity Softball Tournament and Family BBQ. The event was held at Maidu Park was held on Saturday, October 19.

Five teams came together to compete. EU’s water crew – Wet-n-Wild – walked away the top spot and bragging rights. They did a great job, but it was the charities for whom the teams played that were the real winners. Twelve hundred dollars were raised to help out various organizations.

Here’s a list of the teams, the charities that benefited from their gifts, and the amount raised:

• EU's Water team played for the Rio Linda Little League - $508.68
• PR&L played for St. Jude’s Hospital - $175
• Development Services teamed with IT, who played for the Ronald McDonald House – $175
• Electric played for VFW Post #1487 - $175
• Finance played for the Shriners Hospital - $175

Thank you for everyone who invested so much in making this year’s tourney a success and great time for everyone involved.

Although many people gave to make this happen, we wanted to add a quick shout-out to three people who added something special to this event. Kudos to Lea Estrada (DS) and Jordan Mahallati (PR&L) for co-chairing this event, and to Chris Hardy (IT) for going the extra mile to make sure these charities brought home something from our games. Thank you everyone.
