Communications professionals from across Northern California gathered this month to honor Megan MacPherson with a career milestone. The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), California Capital Chapter, presented Megan with its top honor, the Influencer of the Year Award.
This recognition highlights not only the achievements of a person's career, but more how they have provided leadership to the entire industry. A nearly 30-year public relations professional, Megan has served the City for the past 12 years. Currently, she's the Director of Public Affairs & Communications and sits on the Executive Team.
Megan developed the strategy for EngageRoseville, a successful, multi-year community engagement, and education effort that helped the City close a multi-million dollar annual budget gap without cuts to services. Additionally, she is an advisor to the Davenport Institute for Public Engagement and Civic Leadership at Pepperdine University.
Her resume includes a seemingly endless list of unique leadership positions across the nation, addressing the needs of children, health, education, and the community. Megan served four years as a U.S. Navy officer in Florida and Hawaii.
At the same ceremony, the Public Affairs and Communications Department was awarded a second PRSA Merit Award for Audiovisual Production for the podcast “
Inside the Community Conversation” from the EngageRoseville series.
